A chapel in Simferopol has been consecrated in honour of the Holy Royal Martyrs, Emperor Nicholas II and his family, the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, their daughters Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia and their son, Alexei.
The chapel houses rare icons and some come from a collection of a former prosecutor of the Crimea.
Nicholas II and his family were canonised as martyrs by the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia in 1981. They were canonised as passion bearers by the Russian Orthodox Church within Russia on 15 August 2000. The title of passion bearers commemorates believers who face death in a Christ-like manner.
