The Norwegian Amethyst Parure Tiara consists of a convertible tiara, a pair of earrings, two bracelets and a brooch.
The provenance of the tiara is not known, but Trond Noren Isaksen supposes it was probably purchased in the 1990s from Garrard’s to replace a tiara which was stolen in a raid.
Queen Sonja has worn the entire set often and also alternated between wearing the tiara in its tiara form and in its necklace form.
More recently, the main wearer has been Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who may have it on permanent loan from her mother-in-law. She generally wears it in its tiara form, rather than as a necklace.

Her sister-in-law, Princess Märtha Louise, has also worn the parure during the 2010 wedding of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Daniel Westling.
Her daughter, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, has not worn the entire parure yet, but during her 18th birthday gala, she wore the brooch pinned to her sash.1
