After her divorce from Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon in 1978, Princess Margaret met her former love, Peter Townsend, for lunch 30 years after their romance ended. Princess Margaret told her close friend Lady Glenconner what she thought of Peter after the lunch.

“Peter Townsend came to lunch with her and I said: “What was it like seeing him?”.

“She said charming, he hadn’t changed at all.”

“I looked out the window and saw him getting out of the car, he was an old man.”

“Yet in her eyes he hadn’t changed. I thought that was very touching.”

The story of the royal reunion will be part of a special show airing tonight on Channel 5 in the UK called “Elizabeth: Our Queen.”
