Princess Ingeborg’s Boucheron Circle Tiara is part of the Norwegian royal family’s collection.
It was purchased in 1900 by Prince Carl, Duke of Västergötland, at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. He gave it to his wife, Princess Ingeborg of Denmark. Three large pearl elements were later added to it.
It wasn’t one of Princess Ingeborg’s favourites to wear, but she wore it occasionally and more so after 1945.
She lent it to her daughter, Princess Margaretha, who wore it for the wedding of Prince Christian of Schaumburg-Lippe and Princess Feodora of Denmark in 1937.
Two years later, she lent it to Crown Princess Märtha, who wore it during her Tour of the United States in 1939.
Princess Margaretha continued to wear it throughout the 1950s. The tiara was eventually inherited by Princess Ingeborg’s granddaughter, Princess Ragnhild, who wore it often.
In 2022, the tiara was given to Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Princess Ingeborg’s great-great-granddaughter, from Princess Ragnhild’s family. “It was Princess Ragnhild’s wish that Princess Ingrid Alexandra should receive her grandmother’s tiara”, said Princess Astrid.1
