Secret 500-year-old spy chamber ‘built by Ivan the Terrible’s mother’ found under Moscow street

The footage from the video above shows a secret 500-year-old spy chamber, which was underneath a street in Moscow. Archaeologists say the room the room was built by Elena Glinskaya, the mother of Ivan the Terrible. The room is thought to have been used to eavesdrop on the enemy with a special acoustic effect.

It was last used in the 17th century as Russia was at war with Poland. A total of 150 artefacts, including pots and knives, were found in the room. The room was built underneath a 2.5 kilometre long wall, which was meant to protect from Polish raids.
