Remains of Helen, Queen Mother of Romania to be moved to the new cathedral at Curtea de Argeş

The remains of Helen, Queen Mother of Romania, King Carol II and Prince Mircea will be moved to the new cathedral at Curtea de Argeş in the spring. Tombs have already been prepared.

Helen, Queen Mother of Romania and King Carol II were divorced in 1928 but will now be reunited in the new cathedral. Prince Mircea is King Carol’s younger brother, who died at the age of 3.

Helen died while in exile in Lausanne and was buried according to Orthodox rites in the Lausanne Bois-de-Vaux cemetery. King Carol’s remains are now in a special crypt in the chapel of the Curtea de Arges Monastery, while Prince Mircea rests in the chapel of Bran Castle.
