We sure are being treated to some great historical pieces this year. The Duchess of Sussex wore Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara and now Princess Eugenie treats us to the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara.
The Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara was made by Boucheron for Dame Margaret Helen Greville, Hon Mrs Greville, in 1919. She was a collector of jewellery and upon her death in 1942, she bequeathed her jewels to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, who left it to her daughter The Queen in 2002. However, the tiara hadn’t been worn by a member of the royal family since it was inherited and so this outing came as quite a surprise. It goes very well with the emerald earrings Princess Eugenie wore, which were a gift from her new husband.
The oval central emerald is an amazing 93.70 carats.
A truly lovely tiara. It’s wonderful to see it in public. Eugenie certainly made a beautiful bride.
