Hever Castle unveiled an ‘extraordinarily rare’ wooden panel, believed to have been made for Anne of Cleves, fourth wife of Henry VIII. The oak panel shows Anne’s insignia, alongside the monogram AC and is believed to have come from one of her homes, though it’s not known which one. It is only one of two panels known to exist and dates back to 1544.
The panel was discovered to be up for auction by author Sarah Morris and she notified the current owners of Hever Castle, who purchased the panel.
The panel will go on display in the Queens’ Chamber at Hever Castle from March 22.
