Princess Princess Sophie of the Netherlands was born on 8 April 1824 as the daughter of the future King William II of the Netherlands and of his wife Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna of Russia at Kneuterdijk in The Hague. A few days after her baptism, she was awarded the Order of Saint Catherine by her grandmother, Maria Feodorovna. [read more]
