The tomb of an Egyptian Princess has likely been discovered in a pyramid in the necropolis of Dahshur. One inscribed block bears religious texts and the name of the 13th dynasty Pharaoh Ameny Qemau. Further excavations revealed the burial chamber of a Princess. The team excavating the pyramid found a badly preserved human-shaped sarcophagus, a wood box which one contained canopic jars (which would have held the mummy’s internal organs) and wrappings. Inscriptions on the box indicate that the objects belong to one of the Pharaoh’s daughters.

Very little is known about Ameny Qemau and his children. He reigned for just two years as the 5th Pharaoh of the dynasty and was possibly the father of the 6th Pharaoh.
