In the Footsteps of Anne Boleyn by Sarah Morris & Natalie Grueninger Book Review

My fascination with Anne Boleyn was what started it all for me. From Anne, I read about other English queens and later about other royals. In the Footsteps of Anne Boleyn follows the life of Anne Boleyn and all the places she has visited or where she has lived. I visited Hever Castle, her childhood home a couple of years ago. And after reading this book, I decided to visit Mechelen where she spent a year at the court of Margaret of Austria.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved how very detailed it is. The authors have visited all the places themselves, and it definitely shows. There are even several maps, including one of France for her time at the French court and the trip to Calais. It’s amazing how many places are still there to visit, even if its just ruins now. For every place, the authors describe what happened there, also quite detailed, and visitor information. That makes this book easy to take with you to these places.

In the middle of the book, there is a collection of photos of the various places.

Overall it’s a great book and an awesome reference guide to follow in Anne’s footsteps. I’m definitely going to visit more of these places in the future! (UK & US)
