“I Am Henry” – Short Film Review

I was recently given the opportunity to watch the short film “I Am Henry”, created by Flying Dutchman Films.  The 24-minute film features Henry VIII in a sort of limbo being confronted by both Anne Boleyn and Catherine of Aragon. He insists he regrets nothing, but he appears to break by the end of the film.

I enjoyed the portrayal of Anne Boleyn by Fleur Keith and Catherine of Aragon by Maria de Lima. I really liked that they also showed Henry, Duke of Cornwall (the baby boy of Catherine and Henry who lived for almost two months) as a young adult and I was touched when Catherine said,”They are all here”. We see Anne walking to her execution, being blinded by the light as she walks and her speech on the scaffold.

I thoroughly enjoyed this short film and it’s really touching. I would have liked to have seen the inclusion of Catherine Howard, who also died on the executioner’s block.
